I went to the dime store a few weeks ago and found some re-packaged yarn. There were no labels for the yarn, so I have no idea what it is, but it works up similar to Caron Simply Soft.
I made a cute black shrug with a collar and half sleeves and a very fun brick red skirt with a drawstring.

I used Red Heart With Love yarn for the Granny Square Top and Hexagon Shrug. These two are very colorful and fun!
For the brown top and the gray shrug I used Caron Simply Soft yarn. All of the tops are quick to whip up and fun to wear with anything. Here are my latest tops I crocheted in about a week.
The blue jacket has a leaf print down each arm and 5 prints across the back. It also has a blue/brown ruffle around the edges. The green top has a multi-color edging around the bottom and sleeves with a cute floral print along top. The multi-color duster is similar to the blue jacket, except only 3 leaf prints across back and no sleeves. It also has a multi-color (smaller) edging. Here are my latest items. A granny square shawl/cloak. It's just supposed to hang over your shoulders, but has arm holes, so you can still move without it slipping off. They are made to fit most sizes.
The stitches are usually large/loose, so it's warm but breathes, at the same time. These are my fingerless gloves, made from my own pattern. They fit most adult hands and go about half way up the forearm. The above the elbow gloves go about 2 inches above the elbow.
Most of the gloves are made with an open stitch and softer yarn; to be worn in the summer time. Others are thicker and warmer for winter wear. My latest craze is the crocodile stitch, which uses a lot more yarn (and time), but looks soo cute in the end. When made with a variegated yarn, you never know what you're going to get. I have made this fun kids' hat and a few belts. Scarves and booties are the most popular for this stitch. I have also added a few other items recently that I just whipped up while doing my garage sale. I was just trying to use up some yarn I have lying around. I had lots of yarn left over from the initial jacket and vests, that I decided to just keep going with the granny squares and such.
I made 2 fat-bottom bags (one in all beige and the other using all the colors from the vests). They have bamboo-like hoop handles and can be matched with either vest. Then, I also made a granny square purse for the first Granny Square vest and a small clutch type purse with a drawstring (usable with either of the vests). The hat goes with the Granny Square Jacket and features a wide, ruffly brim. I think I'm getting close to the end of these colors! Here is my latest creation. I saw a picture for a granny square jacket on Facebook, but the site wasn't working, so I couldn't get the pattern. I decided to make my own (which is what I do best). I used Red Heart yarn to make the 34 granny squares then sewed them together. I had a few extra squares (because I wasn't sure how it would go together), so I turned those into a bag/purse I also saw on Facebook. I really like it, not exactly my favorite colors, but I just went with what I had lying around my house. (The colors are Carrot, Ranch Red, Spring Green, Cherry Cola and Chocolate.) My latest project was for Ror Schach, which is my brother's music festival he started in Park Rapids, Minnesota. I crochet Cottlers, which are my version of a Can Coozie. My Cottlers will fit almost all cans and bottles, but it has a handle. I can make them in any color/style, but these ones have the Ror Schach symbol (eye of Ra) crocheted into them. I have been asked to make them in many different styles; including Vikings, Twins, stripes, etc. |
